Look, I'm a competitive guy, which means I love a good ranking system.
The AP Top 25. The MLB Top 100. If it's a ranking, I'm interested. And if you're a business owner, especially one in growth mode, you're probably paying attention to rankings too.
But this isn't a ranking of the best remodeling or design-build contractors in the Corvallis-Albany area. In fact, this methodology doesn't evaluate craftsmanship, architectural design, customer service, project management, pricing, or anything else related to the actual remodeling services these companies provide. A company at the bottom of this list could very well be one of the finest custom builders on the planet. That's simply not what this ranking measures.
I've been working in digital marketing for nearly 10 years, and over that time I've gotten pretty good at analyzing the digital landscape of an industry and identifying who's doing it well and who's leaving opportunities on the table.
That's why I created this methodology. It's built on a 100-point scale that ranks service-based companies on the effectiveness of their digital marketing strategy and online visibility.
Why should you care about this ranking?
Digital visibility matters because it's often the difference between getting found and getting ignored. When a homeowner decides to renovate a kitchen, build a custom addition, or undertake a full home remodel, they turn to Google first. And often, they have brands in mind already based on brand awareness and visibility years before they were actively searching for a contractor.
The companies that consistently appear in search results, maps, reviews, and advertisements have a significant advantage in capturing those high-value opportunities.
This ranking is designed to measure which general contractors are winning that battle online.
The Methodology
Now, I'm not going to give away the entire secret sauce, but I will explain how the methodology works.
The ranking system evaluates businesses across five core digital marketing categories, each weighted differently based on its impact on overall visibility and lead generation:
Paid Advertising Visibility (15 Points)
Marketing Automation & Lead Capture (15 Points)
Website User Experience (20 Points)
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & AEO Visibility (35 Points)
Brand Reputation & Local SEO (15 Points)
I researched each company and assigned points based on a variety of digital marketing best practices within those categories. For example, a contractor running Google paid search or Meta video ad campaigns may earn a higher score in paid advertising. Likewise, a company with high-speed, mobile-responsive portfolio showcases may gain points in website user experience, while losing points if assets are slow to load or text isn't readable on mobile.
Each category contains multiple scoring factors, which helps create a more balanced ranking. During my research, I found companies with breathtaking project portfolios that still scored lower because they lacked content depth or dedicated service pages needed to compete on Google Search. Others had functional site layouts but lagged in mobile UX or review signals.
The goal wasn't to reward one specific marketing tactic. It was to evaluate the overall strength of a company's digital presence.
A note on timing and data collection
All research for this report was conducted on or around September 29, 2026, and reflects what was publicly observable during that period.
To evaluate local SEO visibility and paid search presence, search queries were selected based on the terms prospective homeowners would be most likely to use when researching remodeling and custom build services. This included high-intent searches related to kitchen remodeling, bathroom design, home additions, custom home design-build, and location-specific remodeling contractors.
Digital marketing activity can change quickly. For example, a builder may pause paid ad campaigns due to heavy backlogs, seasonality, or staffing capacity. As a result, some businesses may have received lower scores in paid advertising if no active campaigns were visible during the research period.
This report should be viewed as a snapshot of each company's digital visibility at the time the research was conducted.
A note if your company isn't listed
I did my best to include design and remodel contractors with a physical presence in the Corvallis-Albany area. If you own a remodeling company in Corvallis or Albany and don't see your business here, there's a good chance it's because you have little to no digital footprint that I could find during my research.
If that's the case, I'd be happy to provide a free digital marketing audit for your business so you can see what you can do to compete with those on this list.
Let's get to ranking
Alright, enough data science. Let's get into the rankings.
We'll start at the bottom of the list and work our way to the top.
One final reminder: These rankings evaluate online visibility and digital marketing effectiveness only. It does not evaluate craftsmanship, design quality, customer satisfaction beyond public reviews, or actual construction quality.

Website User Experience:
0/20
SEO Visibility:
4/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
6/15
Overall
10/100
Thor Construction lands at the bottom of the rankings primarily due to a total lack of web presence. Having no active website dings a company across almost all usability, lead capture, and organic search categories. In digital marketing, if you don't have a website, you are essentially unfindable to prospective customers searching online and you've limited your new customer pipeline to referrals and social media, which are unreliable.

Overall
11/100
Elevate Design & Build appears to be in the middle of constructing or updating its web presence, as actual AI prompts were left visible on the live pages during research. The design is currently unpolished, content is shallow, and conversion paths are difficult. There are no sticky calls-to-action (CTAs), the lead form is unnecessarily long, and post-submission steps are unclear. Addressing these website fundamentals would immediately improve user trust and engagement.

21.5/100
Jay B Construction has a basic website architecture in place, but lacks the content depth needed to build search authority and grow organic website traffic. The conversion journey presents friction: contact options in the navigation blend in with other links, there is no direct phone number to call, and mobile responsiveness needs work. Furthermore, generic testimonials offer minimal social proof value.

One More Thing Done does a nice job showcasing projects and creating an authentic local feel on a mobile-responsive site. However, significant friction exists in the lead capture experience: forcing prospects through a long form that charges for consultations deters potential leads. Phone numbers and CTAs need to be far more prominent in navigation, and dedicated service pages are needed to build SEO strength.

Proline Construction & Remodel struggles with thin site content, an outdated visual layout, and a lack of dedicated service pages. Converting is difficult because the site lacks clear calls-to-action, directing users almost exclusively to an "About" page to get in touch. Upon form submission, the confirmation message is rendered in small text that is easy for visitors to miss.

Ryals Design & Build showcases clear call-to-actions throughout the site and real project imagery that authenticates their work. However, non-clickable phone numbers and email links create mobile friction, unoptimized imagery leads to slow load times, and thin written content severely limits organic search performance. However, Ryals is the first company on the list to have active paid search ads on Google, which has helped them show up when it matters—in spite of their limited organic search visibility.

Overall
30.5/100
Crowsfoot Carpentry earns one of the higher scores in Marketing Automation thanks to clear CTAs, mobile responsiveness, and almost immediate response times. However, phone numbers are unexpectedly unclickable on the contact page itself, and the primary contact form feels longer than necessary. Broadening their local SEO content and building review volume would yield quick performance gains. They were the first company on the list to begin to show up on high-intent organic google searches, even appearing in one AI overview and twice on the first page of the search engine results page (SERP).

Phil Howard Construction has made a clear effort to build localized SEO service pages, but the website experience suffers from major usability issues. Navigation header text is hard to read, phone numbers aren't clickable, imagery appears outdated or poorly captured, and key above-the-fold hero copy is missing. Additionally, an overly aggressive CAPTCHA erases filled-out form data if entered incorrectly, frustrating interested leads.

Navarro Company Construction maintains a mobile-responsive web presence complete with dedicated service pages, helpful project galleries, and clickable phone numbers. While they capture occasional local map visibility via Google Business Profile ads, their overall paid advertising footprint and organic search rankings remain modest. Expanding content depth and lead follow-up automation would help raise their baseline visibility.

The Village Builder demonstrates decent baseline organic search visibility supported by sound structural site architecture. However, the website user experience is heavily penalized by very slow page loading speeds, low-contrast text, low-quality visual assets, and thin copy. While contact links and emails are functional, a design polish and better backend website architecture is needed. However, they did appear twice (at the bottom) on Google for high-intent organic search queries.

Alright, we've broken into the top 10.
Stress Less Renovation maintains strong local trust signals and a clean site layout, but appears to be mid-development. Contact buttons are placed prominently across pages but are currently unclickable, and there is no functioning lead capture form. Thin content further hinders search engine authority. Fixing broken conversion pathways will immediately help capture interested traffic. The main factor bumping this company to the 9 spot was it's strong mobile page speed and strong Google Business Profile ranking and number of positive reviews. They sit in the top 40% of this list for brand reputation and local SEO.

The Corvallis Contractor benefits from a solid local brand reputation, but user experience breaks down significantly on site. During evaluation, multiple images failed to render, links were broken, and placeholder text like "call to action" was the visible text on buttons. These technical glitches hurt visitor trust and limit conversion rates. The Corvallis Contractor benefits from a domain and business name that's going to rank well for localized google searches, and a strong brand reputation on Google Business Profile (in the top 40% of this list) has helped bump this business up to ninth on the list.

Custom Craft Homes delivers a well-organized, mobile-responsive layout with clear CTAs and a smooth form submission experience. However, website assets suffer from long load times, and page content lacks the depth required to establish strong organic search authority. Expanding service page copy and speeding up image delivery would elevate their digital footprint. Unfortunately, they did not appear on the first page of Google in my search for high-intent keywords relevant to the services they provide.

W.L. Construction exhibits a diversified paid strategy using Meta carousel ads alongside Google search and local map ads. Their site highlights an impressive project portfolio. However, page performance is hindered by slow rendering assets, thin copy on key landing pages, missing CTAs on certain pages, and a surprisingly weak review profile on Google. They would benefit from a dedicated local SEO content strategy, alongside a campaign to increase reviews from previous customers to their Google Business Profile.

McHenry Remodeling makes an excellent first impression with striking visual design and prominent conversion opportunities. They also maintain active paid visibility. However, the website lacks dedicated service and localized SEO pages, restricting organic growth. Additionally, phone numbers aren't consistently clickable, and the lead submission confirmation is overly subtle. They have a great architecture to build off of, and a strong local brand reputation boosted by an active and optimized Google Business Profile.

On to the top 5. Leading off the list, mostly due to their strong SEO and local brand reputation, is Schweitzer Design & Build. Their site acts as a clean "digital front door" featuring dedicated service pages, localized search content, custom project galleries, and clickable phone numbers. Adding paid ad channels and automated lead follow-up could push them higher in the rankings and allow them to be highly competitive against the top four companies on this list.

Henderer Design, Build & Remodel features exceptional project photography, a perfect 15/15 local brand reputation score, and high search engine authority driven by deep service content. However, the website suffers from exceptionally slow page loading speeds that impact user experience. Adding sticky conversion prompts in navigation and footers would help convert high search traffic more effectively, along with optimizing assets on the website to reduce slow load times.

The customer conversion journey is polished with clear step-by-step messaging, prominent CTAs, clickable contact details, mobile responsiveness, and an exceptional post-submission redirect experience. Supported by dedicated SEO landing pages and top-tier Google reviews, Thayer provides a masterclass in lead capture. If they were to invest in a strategic, conversion-driven paid digital ad strategy, they would easily increase prospective leads and be highly competitive against the top two on this list.

So What Does This Mean for Your Business?
Look, if you're a design, remodeling, or custom build contractor in Corvallis or Albany, you're not actively looking to grow, and most of your business comes from referrals, repeat customers, or your established reputation, then being near the bottom of this list probably isn't something you need to lose sleep over.
This ranking only matters if you're trying to grow your business, generate more qualified project leads, increase website traffic, or capture market share from local competitors.
That's one of the reasons we don't lock businesses into long-term contracts at Desert Fox Digital. If your build schedule is booked out two years in advance and you're turning away work, digital visibility probably isn't your biggest challenge right now.
That said, there is one important caveat.
If your project pipeline eventually slows down and you've never invested in local SEO, brand reputation, site experience, or paid advertising, you'll have an uphill climb to become competitive. Digital visibility takes time to build, and waiting until leads dry up is usually the most expensive time to begin investing in marketing.
If you found your company near the bottom of this list and you're actively looking to grow, the good news is that I've already identified several key opportunities that could help increase your visibility, generate more high-value remodeling leads, and improve your competitive position online.
If you'd like a second set of eyes on your marketing, request a free digital marketing audit. We'll review what's working, identify what's holding you back, and discuss a strategy to help you outrank competitors, reach new homeowners, generate more qualified leads, and grow your business.
