Look, I'm a competitive guy, which means I love a good ranking system.
The AP Top 25. The MLB Top 100. If it's a ranking, I'm interested. And if you're a business owner, especially one in growth mode, you're probably paying attention to rankings too.
But this isn't a ranking of the best HVAC companies in the Corvallis-Albany area. This methodology doesn't evaluate craftsmanship, quality of work, customer service, pricing, or anything else related to the actual work these companies perform. A company at the bottom of this list could very well employ the best technicians in the valley. That's simply not what this ranking measures.
I've been working in digital marketing for nearly 10 years, and over that time I've gotten pretty good at analyzing the digital landscape of an industry and identifying who's doing it well and who's leaving opportunities on the table.
That's why I created this methodology. It's built on a 100-point scale that ranks service-based companies on the effectiveness of their digital marketing strategy and online visibility.
Why should you care about this ranking?
Digital visibility matters because it's often the difference between getting found and getting ignored. When a homeowner's furnace quits on the coldest night of the year, or they're shopping for a heat pump before summer, they turn to Google first. And often, they already have brands in mind based on awareness built years before they ever needed a technician.
The companies that consistently appear in search results, maps, reviews, and advertisements have a real advantage in capturing those high-value jobs.
This ranking measures which HVAC companies are winning that battle online.
The methodology
Now, I'm not going to give away the entire secret sauce, but I will explain how the methodology works.
The ranking system evaluates businesses across five core digital marketing categories, each weighted differently based on its impact on overall visibility and lead generation:
Paid Advertising (15 points): Google search ads, Meta ads, and other Google channels like Local Services and display placements.
Lead Capture (10 points): how easy it is for a visitor to convert — click-to-call buttons, quote forms, and calls-to-action that follow you as you scroll.
Website User Experience (20 points): navigation and usability, plus mobile page speed and responsiveness.
SEO Visibility (35 points): local search presence across AI Overviews, map packs, and organic results, plus keyword footprint and domain authority.
Brand Reputation & Local SEO (20 points): Google rating and review volume, benchmarked against the rest of the list.
I researched each company and assigned points based on digital marketing best practices within those categories. Each category contains multiple scoring factors, which helps create a more balanced ranking.
The goal wasn't to reward one specific marketing tactic. It was to evaluate the overall strength of each company's digital presence — and to spotlight the opportunities hiding in plain sight.
A note on timing and data collection
All research for this report was conducted on October 5–6, 2026, and reflects what was publicly observable during that period.
To evaluate local SEO visibility and paid search presence, I used the search terms prospective homeowners would actually type — things like "ac repair corvallis," "furnace repair corvallis or," and "heat pump repair corvallis or" — rather than industry jargon.
Two things worth knowing: this research landed during an active Google spam-update rollout (September 24–October 8), so local rankings were in motion while data was collected. And digital marketing changes fast — a company may pause ad campaigns due to backlog, seasonality, or staffing, which can lower a paid advertising score that looked different a month earlier.
This report is a snapshot of each company's digital visibility at the time of research.
A note if your company isn't listed
I did my best to include residential HVAC companies with a physical presence in the Corvallis-Albany area. If you run one and don't see it here, there's a good chance I couldn't find much of a digital footprint during the research window.
If that's the case, I'd be happy to provide a free digital marketing audit so you can see how you stack up against the companies on this list.
Let's get to the rankings
Alright, enough data science. Let's get into the rankings.
We'll start at the bottom and work our way to the top.
One final reminder: these rankings evaluate online visibility and digital marketing effectiveness only — not workmanship, safety, or actual service quality.

Lead Capture:
0/10
Website User Experience:
0/20
SEO Visibility:
4/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
8/20
Overall
12/100
A Degree Above sits at the bottom for a fixable reason: the website is broken straight from their Google Business Profile link. When the site doesn't resolve, there's nothing for Google to rank and nowhere for a visitor to convert, which zeroes out most of the board in one stroke.
The encouraging part is the foundation underneath — a 5.0-star rating across 19 reviews shows customers are happy. Getting the site back online, even as a simple five-page build with service pages and a click-to-call button, would move this company up the list quickly.
17 Brothers Mechanical HVAC/R Services

Lead Capture:
7/10
Website User Experience:
4/20
SEO Visibility:
4/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
4/20
Overall
19/100
Brothers Mechanical is a case of good conversion instincts and almost no content. The site content is extremely thin — but everything that should be clickable is clickable, all phone numbers and emails included, so converting is easy.
The problem is purely traffic: with this little content, organic search has nothing to rank, and a 5.0-star rating on only 12 reviews can't carry local visibility alone. A review generation push and some dedicated service pages would give this company a much louder voice online.
16 Stephens Heating & Air Conditioning

Stephens Heating & AC
Paid Advertising:

Lead Capture:

Website User Experience:
4/20
SEO Visibility:
6/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
8/20
Overall
25/100
Stephens' site is built first and foremost around the products they carry rather than the services homeowners search for — and those service pages have almost no content. Phones and emails are clickable, so the basics work, and they show up in the map pack for a few queries.
But a mobile PageSpeed of 57 and a 4.5-star rating on 33 reviews leave clear headroom in a market where competitors sit at 4.7 and above. A service-first content restructure plus a steadier stream of reviews are the two clearest levers here.
15 Palmer's Heating and Construction

Website User Experience:
6/20
SEO Visibility:
11.5/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
8/20
Overall
25.5/100
Palmer's is easy to find but hard to hire. Map pack appearances and organic results across the test queries earn a respectable SEO score — yet the site itself raises questions, with sparse content and navigation that doesn't click through.
If the business is operating, a basic working site with a click-to-call button and a simple quote form would be step one. The site loads fast (PageSpeed 75), so the technical foundation is already there.
14 Birchfield Heating and Air Conditioning

Birchfield Heating & AC
Paid Advertising:

Lead Capture:
2/10
Website User Experience:
4/20
SEO Visibility:
8.5/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
16/20
Overall
30.5/100
Birchfield has something money can't buy: a 4.7-star rating across 124 reviews, one of the stronger reputations on this list. What's missing is everything that gets new customers to the door.
The site content is very thin, which hurts credibility, and the phone call button redirects to the contact page instead of dialing — friction at the exact moment of intent. This is a reputation waiting on a marketing engine. Even modest SEO investment would pay off fast with this review profile behind it.
13 Watson Mechanical, LLC

Watson Mechanical
Paid Advertising:

Website User Experience:
10/20
SEO Visibility:
8/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
4/20
Overall
32/100
Watson is the best-converting site that almost nobody finds. The site is clean, the content is deep, it's easy to navigate, and lead capture is a perfect 10/10 — no notes on the website itself.
But zeros across local search visibility mean few homeowners ever see it, and just 2 Google reviews (both 5-star) leave the brand score thin. Reviews and local SEO are the entire opportunity here.
12 Awesome Air Heating and Cooling

Website User Experience:
4/20
SEO Visibility:
11/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
12/20
Overall
32/100
Awesome Air has the map-pack presence most of this list would envy, appearing in the local pack across five of nine test queries. But the website makes a strange first impression — the hero has little to do with heating and air, the content is extremely thin, and phone numbers aren't clickable (though Book Now CTAs are everywhere, which is good).
Add a missing favicon and a mobile PageSpeed of 33, and there's real friction here. The 5.0-star rating on 47 reviews is excellent. Fix the site fundamentals and keep the reviews coming, and this company climbs fast. (Tied with Watson at 32; listed alphabetically.)
11 Midway Mechanical

Website User Experience:
10/20
SEO Visibility:
11/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
4/20
Overall
36/100
Midway has the conversion side figured out — extremely easy to convert with sticky CTAs everywhere, deep content, and a design that's easy to read and navigate. Local search visibility is decent too.
The anchor is brand reputation: a 4.0-star rating on 8 reviews is the lowest rating on the list, and in a market full of 4.7s and 5.0s, that gap shows. A focused review campaign is the single highest-leverage move here.
10 Pacific Breeze HVAC

Pacific Breeze HVAC
Paid Advertising:

Lead Capture:
10/10
Website User Experience:
18/20
SEO Visibility:
6/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
4/20
Overall
38/100
Pacific Breeze has a really clean design that's easy to convert on, with genuinely helpful FAQs — the on-site experience is excellent.
The one thing hindering growth is content depth: no dedicated service pages and no localized SEO pages, which is why local search presence sits at zero. With only 6 reviews, there's also no reputation engine yet. This is a marketing problem, not a website problem — local SEO and review generation would unlock everything the site is already built to convert.
9 Rice Heating & Air Conditioning

2/10
Website User Experience:
4/20
SEO Visibility:

Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
20/20
Overall
41/100
Rice pairs a perfect brand score — 5.0 stars across 419 reviews, the second-highest review count on the list — with the strongest "other Google channel" presence in the rankings.
But the site has a lot of opportunity on the table: thin content, a design that could use work, and a gallery page a mile long that should be organized into case studies. Phone numbers are clickable, but the contact form takes ages to load. Bring the site up to the standard the reviews set, and Rice contends for the top five.
8 Corvallis Heating and Air

9.5/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
20/20
Overall
42.5/100
A 5.0-star rating across 150 reviews earns Corvallis Heating a perfect brand score, and map-pack appearances back it up.
The site itself is where the points leak: poorly laid out content, no footer, no contact form, and phone numbers that aren't clickable create friction throughout. The content is thin enough that this ranking is essentially carried by the Google Business Profile reputation. For a company this well-reviewed, even a modest paid search test during the shoulder seasons could be a profitable experiment.

Brand Reputation & Local SEO:
16/20
Overall
45/100
Wise is the most balanced company outside the top five — no zeros anywhere, a 5.0-star rating on 110 reviews, and a quick mobile site (PageSpeed 77). The content runs decently deep with dedicated service pages and a sticky phone number CTA.
The design could use some work, but the architecture and foundation are strong. The path upward is incremental gains across paid, content depth, and review volume rather than one big fix.
6 Middleton Heating & Sheet Metal

46/100
Middleton owns one of the best website experiences on the list — the design is actually pretty decent, with localized SEO pages, real service page content, perfect navigation, and clear conversion opportunities.
Paid is absent entirely, and the 4.6-star rating on 44 reviews has headroom. A first paid search campaign would be the natural next step for a site this well built.

Brand Reputation & Local SEO:

Overall
49/100
Larsell is this ranking's great paradox: a perfect brand score on a 4.9-star, 231-review reputation paired with almost no local search visibility.
Apparently acquired by tru72, the site has a polished, template-driven feel quite different from a typical local shop — but everything that needs to be there is there, with clear CTAs and deep content. The entire opportunity is SEO: with this review profile, even basic local optimization should move the needle quickly.

Day is an SEO-first company: the second-largest keyword footprint on the list (462 ranking keywords), a strong domain rating, and one of only two companies to appear in an AI Overview. The site itself is solid — clear CTAs, clickable phone numbers, a chatbot, and deep content for every service, with only a few finicky quirks in the navigation.
What's missing is paid — no ad presence at all. That's a choice, not a flaw. But in a market where competitors are buying the top of the page, it's an open question how long organic alone carries them.
3 Hendrix Heating & Air Conditioning

Website User Experience:
7/20
SEO Visibility:
17/35
Brand Reputation & Local SEO:

Overall
56/100
Hendrix is the paid advertising story of this list — the only company with a serious ad footprint, including roughly 200 Google ads in the Transparency Center and active Meta campaigns. The site backs it up: easy to convert with clear CTAs, clickable phone numbers, a chatbot, FAQs, and deep content around every service. Not surprising they have strong SEO.
The trade-offs are a slow mobile site (PageSpeed 29) and a 4.9-star rating on just 54 reviews. Fix the site speed and build review volume, and Hendrix has a real shot at the top spot.
2 Mike's Heating and Air Conditioning

You can tell Mike's has done a ton of local SEO work, and it shows in the rankings: 850 ranking keywords — nearly double the next company — and the most reviews on the list (730 at 4.7 stars) for a perfect brand score. Easy to convert everywhere, with deep content throughout.
The gaps are modest but real: a mobile PageSpeed of 44 and a light paid presence. This is a market leader by most measures; tightening the mobile experience would make it nearly unassailable.

Pace takes the top spot with deep content across the board — no surprise their SEO rankings are this good. They appeared in organic results for all nine test queries, a clean sweep no one else managed, backed by the highest domain rating on the list and a strong keyword footprint.
The site is the fastest on the list (PageSpeed 87) and easy to convert and navigate. Paid presence is light, which means there's still headroom: this is a first-place company with a clear path to widening the gap.

What does this mean for your business?
Look, if you're an HVAC service company in Corvallis or Albany, you're not actively looking to grow, and most of your business comes from referrals, repeat customers, or your established reputation, then being near the bottom of this list probably isn't something you need to lose sleep over.
This ranking only matters if you're trying to grow your business, generate more qualified project leads, increase website traffic, or capture market share from local competitors.
That's one of the reasons we don't lock businesses into long-term contracts at Desert Fox Digital. If your schedule is booked out months in advance and you're turning away work, digital visibility probably isn't your biggest challenge right now.
That said, there is one important caveat.
If your project pipeline eventually slows down and you've never invested in local SEO, brand reputation, site experience, or paid advertising, you'll have an uphill climb to become competitive. Digital visibility takes time to build, and waiting until leads dry up is usually the most expensive time to begin investing in marketing.
If you found your company near the bottom of this list and you're actively looking to grow, the good news is that I've already identified several key opportunities that could help increase your visibility, generate more high-value electrical leads, and improve your competitive position online.
If you'd like a second set of eyes on your marketing, request a free digital marketing audit. We'll review what's working, identify what's holding you back, and discuss a strategy to help you outrank competitors, reach new homeowners, generate more qualified leads, and grow your business.
